Unix time counts seconds since 1 January 1970 UTC. JavaScript, Java and most JSON APIs use milliseconds instead, which is why a timestamp sometimes lands in 1970 and sometimes in the year 55000. This tool guesses by length: 13 digits is treated as milliseconds, 10 digits as seconds.
